St Catherine's Cottage, Readymoney Cove
St Catherine’s Cottage sits above Readymoney Cove with a view out over the river Fowey.
The appearance of the cottage is quite unrelated to the Cornish vernacular styles and does not reflect the locally distinctive design of Fowey. The half Tudor effect of the black and white gables provides it with a distinct appearance but relates to nothing in the locality.
The needs at St Catherine’s Cottage is for some degree of reorganisation of the internal accommodation and the provision of a good living space to enable the property to be used as a family home.
The concept is for the gap between the headland and the south gable of the house to be infilled with the living room.
The proposed extension enables the existing property to be dominant and gives fantastic views up the river.
