Liskeard Town Clock
The Guildhall including the campanile style
clock tower was built in the mid 19th Century by the principle of this practice at the time, Henry Rice, as a
commission for the Town Council.
Refurbishment follows the deterioration of the
building caused by accelerated condensation and excess cooling caused by the high winds and its exposed position
producing very low temperatures at the higher levels of the tower.
The design of a brickwork structure, heavily
rendered and moulded, whilst being structurally stable, was in an advanced state of deterioration which was
stabilised by the use of Fosroc products in respect of epoxy resin injections to cracks and the remedial work to
renderings with the use of Rendroc materials.
The opportunity was taken to provide internal
illumination and external floodlighting to the tower which now stands as a focal point to the night scene of
Liskeard.
